With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, people are looking for love more and more online. Unfortunately, hackers and scammers are waiting to prey on online daters, hoping to steal their heart, along with their cash.

Phantom Daters. Be Wary of the Romeo or Juliet Who Can Never Meet. You May Be In for a Shakespearean Tragedy.

He’s really American but lives abroad right now.  Her phone got shut off. His webcam won’t work. If all you are doing is texting, be afraid; be very afraid because they are probably using someone else’s profile. Beware of a catfisher who mentions they must travel to Ghana a lot for “business”.

It’s a day to share your heart and your good fortune with those you love, not your personally identifiable information and your money with a 400-pound hacker sitting on a mattress in his mother’s basement.
