Adam Levin spoke with Gerri Willis from Fox Business’s The Willis Report on the White House hack attack, where hackers jumped the digital fence to infiltrate unclassified computer networks. No, this was not an episode of “Scandal.” While the White House deals with cyber attacks on a daily basis, what stood out about this attack was that it was a sustained breach that put the President’s Executive Office of the President Network on the fritz for almost 3 weeks. The hackers’ objective may have been to test where the weak links were in the White House’s security culture, before staging a more sophisticated attack. As Adam explained, the Cold War has been replaced by the Cyber War and this could have been an initial attempt to steal the credentials of senior staff that help hackers hackers gain privileged access to more classified systems.
